of an occupational disease or any medical treatable disease to ensure that the
client gets the necessary information and correct route of referral trough
quality, professional medical assistance and care in conjunction with the
Company he is working for.
Company Profile
The South African Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) came into effect on 15
January 1997. In terms of MHSA every person who is employed by or who works at a
mine is an employee and must undergo an initial medical examination (base-line
examination) when starting work at a mine or plant. A pre-employment medical
establish whether an employee has the physical capacity to perform a particular
task. Thereafter, employees must be examined at appropriate intervals. When
leaving the service of a Mine as employee or contractor an exit medical must be done as a
requirement of the Act.
Gemini Occu Health specialises in conducting such medical evaluation and
issuing a physical fitness certificate of industrial employees.
All potential employees will undergo the following:
• Chest X – Rays
• Detailed medical history
• Physical examination
• Audiogram, including baseline audio percentage
• Spirometry (lung function test)
• Vision screening
• Urine testing
